the now

read this quote the other day...

“...the biggest mistake I made is the one that most of us make while doing this life.

I did not live in the moment enough.

This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of the three of them sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages 6, 4 and 1. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night.

I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed.
I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less.”
~Anna Quindlen

such a heavy blessing, such a sacred burden, is this parenting of many small blessings.

Robert Louis Stevenson has said...

“The man who has forgotten to be thankful has fallen asleep in life."

holidays at home

christmas came early...with thanksgiving!!
thanks to my awesome sister and bro in law, we have a new-to-us camera!
aren't these pics nice!!??

PLUS...gram and Papa joined us in LA for thanksgiving!!!!
we had a not so traditional dinner of tri-tip and ribs! (and a trip to the beach)
the food, the fun, the time...everything was awesome!
it all went by way too fast and we miss gram and papa terribly!
we enjoyed every moment with them...we are still naming those moments as things we are thankful for!
family...such a sweet gift!

generosity

to be on the receiving end of endless gifts...
endless love...
endless support.

it humbles my heart.

not only is it better to give than to receive...
it is way easier!

for the second year in a row, we were blessed (by two of the most generous people we know!!) with the opportunity to join our amazing church community on an incredible trip to the mountains!

we spent three days taking in the creation of our magnificent Creator!
His mighty works surrounded us!
our hearts were fed the beautiful truths of His endless grace and love for us...
we've done nothing to deserve His love, nor can we ever add to it.
a weekend reminder to stop trying...

He loves us because He loves us because He loves us.
God took on human form, in Jesus Christ, to live on earth, die on the cross, conquer death...
and save us from our sinful-from-birth-selves!
He made the ultimate sacrifice...

all things

was reminded of this powerful(but so oft forgotten by me) truth...

“And we know that God causes all things

to work together for good

to those who love God…

to become conformed to the image of His Son.”

~Romans 8:28-29 NASB

not "some things"...ALL things!

true friendship

there is something unspeakably sweet about an eternal friendship.
i traveled many miles a few weeks ago to hold a dear friend in my arms again.

the face of a real friend warms a soul like nothing else.

my heart always holds you near, alexes...
praying His healing hands hold you ever closer.

9

that i've been given just one day with her...
it's one more than i deserve.
that i've spent nine years being her mamma...
it's blessings beyond all imagining.
the moment she entered the world, mine changed forever.
my precious first born! may you grow up knowing He loves you because He loves you because He loves you.

a purpose

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let Your glory be over all the earth. ~Psalm 108: 5

our sole reason for exsisting on this earth...

to glorify God.

not to be happy.

not to please others.

not to do more or try harder.

simply to bring the Creator of this whole universe glory.

every living thing created to simply bring God glory.

humbling...true.

"Let everything that has breath praise the LORD"

may all we do today, in word, thought and deed, bring Him glory.

growing great

been taking inventory lately...
the fall always makes me do that... causes me to pause and look back.
seems our 9
years have been full!
full of growing
full of changing
full of loving!
the days are a blur,
but the memories are clear...
God's grace is always sufficient!
